PGMTB Sunday Social Ride
Plenty Gorge MTB
07:45 – 10:30
The PGMTB Club Sunday Morning Social Ride! Sick of getting lost? Wish there were some trail signposts? (Don't we all!) Next best thing is to ride with the experienced Ride Leaders who know the trails like the back of their hand... This is not a beginner’s ride, you must have a basic level of skill and fitness, as there are no green trail in the Gorge. What to expect: Single track with roots, rocks and logs, including some steep sections. Experience required: Suitable for mountain bike riders with some basic mountain bike skills. Arrive 7:45am for an 8:00am roll out, finishing between 10:00-10:30am. Ride Leaders can assist Riders in choosing which group best represents their skill and fitness level. Intermediate level: for those who have the coordination to ride MTB trails, have a reasonable level of fitness and are looking to improve both. Advanced level: for those who are well coordinated in tackling the steeper and more technical trails at a faster pace. Trails are in great condition, although some areas still require some trail care - feel free to join us for our Club Trail Care events. Remember, there are no flat trails in the Gorge – it’s either up or down… (like your heart rate!) This is a no-drop ride, meaning the group will wait at predetermined points for riders to re-group – there will always be a Ride Leader at the back of the group. This is a social ride – so ride at YOUR pace! Post-ride, feel free to join us at the Plentiful Cafe for an ice coffee, a toastie or cake and chat about what was good and, importantly, how we can improve your ride experience in the Gorge. Plentiful Cafe is next to the fire station, 119 Yan Yean Road. Looking forward to seeing you on the ride! *Toilets and water available at Yellow Gum car park area Mountain biking, like most active sports, carries with it an inherent risk that you acknowledge when participating in this event. While you do not need to be a member, we encourage you to become a Plenty Gorge MTB Club member. As well as supporting the club, membership also gives you Third Party Liability Insurance as well as Personal Accident Insurance coverage, you can join online @ AusCycling: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership

PGMTB Club TNR... into THE NORGE!
Middle Gorge Park (Parks Victoria)
18:45 – 21:15
Tuesday Night ride, into THE NORGE! . PGMTB Club Tuesday night social ride is for those riders who deem themselves intermediate skill level / fitness and above… . This MTB ride is the more technical and faster version of our Sunday morning social ride and is NOT available to Foundation-level or beginner riders. . Not for the faint-hearted, the NORGE is the more raw MTB single-track experience in the Gorge – technical skills and fitness are essential here! . A good light / battery set-up is needed - ideally, one light on your helmet, another on your handle bar. . We’ll have an experienced local rider leading, and another at the rear of the group to ensure no-one gets lost. . Arrive 6:30pm for a 6:45 pm departure, typically returning about 9:15pm. . Mountain biking, like most active sports, carries with it an inherent risk that you acknowledge when participating in this event. . TUESDAY Night Ride, from The Tank @ Goldsworthy Lane . PGMTB Club Tuesday night social ride is for those riders who deem themselves intermediate skill level / fitness and above… . This MTB ride is the more technical and faster version of our Sunday morning social ride and is NOT available to Foundation-level or beginner riders. . Starting from The Tank in Goldsworthy Lane means we can head south, head north or mix it up on the mid-Gorge trails. . A good light / battery set-up is needed - ideally, a light on your helmet and one on your handle bar. . We’ll have an experienced local rider leading, and another at the rear of the group to ensure no-one gets lost. . Arrive 6:30pm for a 6:45 pm departure, typically returning about 9:15pm but it could be later depending on the ride leader's energy levels and/or their masochistic personality in deciding to ride up very obvious downhill tracks...  . Mountain biking, like most active sports, carries with it an inherent risk that you acknowledge when participating in this event. . Tuesday Night Ride, from Queens Gardens (southern end) . PGMTB Club Tuesday night social ride is for those riders who deem themselves intermediate skill level / fitness and above… . This MTB ride is the more technical and faster version of our Sunday morning social ride and is NOT available to Foundation-level or beginner riders. . In saying that, the Queens Gardens ride should be considered for your 1st night ride with the group given the ‘easier’ types of trails in the south end of the Gorge. . Although daylight savings is here, you'll still need a good light / battery set-up for the latter part of the ride - ideally, one light on your helmet and another on your handle bar. . We’ll have an experienced local rider leading, sometimes with a plan laid out on an EXCEL spreadsheet with coloured cells which kinda looks  cool, and at other times just making a decision whether to turn right, left or continue straight on a whim, whilst another (normally a more responsible person) stays at the rear of the group to ensure no-one gets lost. . Arrive 6:30pm for a 6:45 pm departure, typically returning around 09:15pm. . Mountain biking, like most active sports, carries with it an inherent risk that you acknowledge when participating in this event. . PGMTB Club Trail Care Day
Plenty Gorge Upper Carpark
08:00 – 11:00
PGMTB Club Trail Care event At this stage, meet 8:45am at Goldsworthy Lane car park (The Tank), more details will be uploaded closer to the event. Typically we would be raking the trail clear of debris, ensuring water sheets across the trail by creating drainage points as well as cutting back vegetation that impedes users on the trail or blocks 'sight-lines' of corners. There will be a quick safety briefing & overview on what, where, how & when to rake and cut. if enough volunteers, we’ll split into two teams Tools to bring (if you have them): plastic rake secateurs or small pruning saw blower no digging tools club will provide pole pruner for any heavy duty cutting requirements Personal gear: gardening-type gloves eye protection hat & sunscreen (well, at least the hat…) hydration (backpack bladder is a good way to carry water) closed shoes or boots long pants if using a line trimmer or brush cutter raincoat See you there!
